Thanks

extract the 7z file and run sudo make install

you should move into the gnoMenu folder (eg. cd ~/Desktop/GnoMenu) open a terminal and type > sudo make install

then go to one panel >right clic> add to panel > looking for GnomeMenu applet and add it to panel

sorry im not english speaker

au revoir / good bye

I build two deb packages for Ubuntu or Debian (themes separete from main program). I only wish to ask GnoMenu's author(s) where to upload it, because maybe someone want to test it.

Smoki we could sure use your help on the team as a packager. Please consider joining us at

https://launchpad.net/gnomenu

We are also looking for graphic artists and interface designers. One of the blueprints is to create a new default theme that looks nothing like Vista or XP. Floating some ideas but we need some serious minded people to work on this project. Helder has been handling most of the coding while I have been working on documentation and keeping everything in order at Launchpad.

It isn't about it being free. Rather, its about the freedom it brings.

I'm already join on launchpad and was made and upload those two deb sample packages. I have one more so called "gnomenu-themes-extra" with almost all button and menu themes available from gnome-look, but don't know whether to upload it also or wait for another release, because maybe some of them will be included in it... I'll wait for your documentation to be finished also, if that needs to be debianized.
I'm not good as a graphic artist or interface designer, so i can't help in that area:(.

 Power button

by teberhard on: Nov 18 2008

Score 50%

Just installed this and all is well except the power button does not work properly. I found the Settings_default.xml under /usr/share/gnomenu/ and changed the power command to gnome-session-save --kill. I reloaded the menu but no luck. Is there somewhere else to change this command to effect the action?

I am running gnome 2.22. I tried gnome-session-save --kill from command line and it works. So shouldn't it work from the gnomenu? Any suggestions?

The settings are saved as a hidden file in your home directory. .GnoMenuSettings.xml

If you change the power button there it will work. Also when you change menu styles it overwrites this file, so your first file edit is needed too.

If someone want to try it, i just uploaded deb packages to

https://launchpad.net/gnomenu/trunk/1.6

Install gnomenuthemes_1.6-1_all.deb first and then gnomenu_1.6-1_all.deb.

It's a matter of taste and choice, which is in the spirit of Free Software.

It's hard to remember sometimes, but we're better off being pro-Free Software than anti-Microsoft.
