Description:

Originally a Yahoo! Widget by EJSE , and now ported to Screenlets, HAL9000 is a must have screenlet for every SF fan!
HAL9000 will show you how busy your processor is and it will occasionally speak (unless you disable that).
Brighter glowing eye means HAL, your computer, is less busy :)
This screenlet requires mplayer to be installed.

This is my first screenlet and I hope you will enjoy using it!

Changelog:

Update: New version with more sounds and shutdown sounds... thanks to Allan Bogh!

I'm currently working on it

I started cutting the passages from the movie with French dubbing, I hope I can be done with it by tomorrow evening and I may post an archive in "Systemsounds" with a link to this screenlet (I'm about to PM the author about that).
I'm also working on equalizing all sounds levels so that you don't have some too loud and some others too low.
(One little problem that shoud be fixed in an upcoming version)

Having HAL talking to you in system sounds rules ! I have personnaly set HAL's speech in system sounds an disabled the screenlet's random speech. It's red eye watching me on my desktop works just fine!

You need to install mplayer in order to hear sounds.
Did you install mplayer?

that depends on the distribution of Linux you are using, for Ubuntu you can install it from synaptic or by terminal command:
sudo apt-get install mplayer

This is very coool. Very. I loved both of these movies, and HAL9000 is a classic, albeit creepy cpu.

Works like a charm, by the way.

sudo apt-get remove --purge stress && sudo apt-get install hakuna-matata

Hey!
If you have a chance, I'd like to move this into Screenlets-Extras as we discussed on the forums.
