Description:

wireless screenlet is used to show current status of your wireless device...
it's showing signal quality in % and signal and noise level in dBm

if you have some new ideas for improve I would like to hear it... leave comments :)

note: If you want to vote bad, please let me know what you don't like so I can improve it...

important: if you have status:not connected please send me your ifconfig and iwconfig output

----------------------------------
***KNOWN BUG:
if you run from terminal and get this output:
Error in screenlets.services.get_service_by_name: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown:
or this:
stats['percentage'] = self.get_percentage(int(stats['quality']), int(stats['quality_max']))
ValueError: invalid literal for int() with base 10: ''

--screenlet can't find your iwconfig and ifconfig

solution:
1) in terminaltype: locate ifconfig
2) again type: locate iwconfig
3) open WirelessScreenlet.py file and replace this line
ip = commands.getoutput("LANG=\"\" ifconfig "+ interface)
with
ip = commands.getoutput("LANG=\"\" STEP_1_OUTPUT "+ interface)

and this line
iwconfig = commands.getoutput("iwconfig "+ interface)
with
iwconfig = commands.getoutput("STEP_2_OUTPUT "+ interface)

note: STEP_1and2_OUTPUT should look something like this
/sbin/ifconfig
/sbin/iwconfig
or
/usr/sbin/ifconfig
/usr/sbin/iwconfig
or something similar depending on your distro...
----------------------------------

Changelog:

25.3.2011

Everytime I try to load this screenlet I get the following. Could it be because I have to run my driver through NDiswrapper?

In your output there's a line "sh: iwconfig: command not found". The iwconfig tool is in /sbin which by default is not listed in the path-variable of a regular user. Try to add it and see if the problem persists.

I think its more of a DBus error. It errors out even if I am logged in a root.

BTW this is on openSuse 10.3

1. solved
2. that is problem only with iwconfig...
iwconfig first fiew seconds (when it's off) is showing not connected (no access point) but after that 3-4 seconds (or less) it shows access point like when your device is on and connected
