 setup.py

atilla

the setup.py is working fine now, i still have some work on the dbus/policykit but everything you asked is done in another branch on github

http://github.com/smolleyes/gstyle/tree/gstyle-trunk

the mo files are generated by the setup.py and placed in the right folder in /usr/share/locale, same thing for the lib wich now are "real" python packages, i only keeped data (galde and img) in the /usr/share/gstyle

if you can check and just tell me if it s ok for you... (but it s not working after install for the moment..)

i had to remove the gstyle deb to try

for ubuntu based and debian (i think)

you msut execute the setup.py like this:

sudo python setup.py install --install-layout=deb

Thanks for immediate reply and fixing effort. I' ll try it tonight and will create an rpm to see if it works as expected. I' ll wait for D-bus and gdm implementation.

Another suggestion, would you mind to add support for font setting and grabbing themes (icons, gtk themes, metacity themes, mouse themes) from gnome-look.org? Is it possible?

Again, thank you for great work and easy-to-use application. I' think this application should replace gnome-application-porperties.

hello :)

thx

i fixed 50% of the problem yesterday, now you can apply wallpaper/ftk and icon theme for gdm without sudo ... i just have problems to get the returns of gconftool-2 commands, once this is fixed everything might be ok (maybe a grub or burg section coming :) !!!)

for fonts, yes i seriously think to add it

and for gnome-look or deviantart, you already can download any theme in any format and just drag n drop it in gstyle (left bottom corner) it will scan the archives for themes and install them automatically (not wallpapers)

Hi again i have tried git version but failed to create rpm. Some problem with translations i think:

Also, i have removed xcur2png from source in rpm spec file. Binary executables should not distributed with source archives according to rpm packaging policies. I have already supplied a xcur2png rpm.

You can look at my spec file here:http://pastebin.com/t2wfzi6P

hello

thx for your help atilla ;)

so, i update my po generator for the new po dir structure and update the french locale

the warning you posted is fixed others errors fixed too

for xcur2png, i understand but it s bad for the moment since it s not in the ubuntu repos, so i ll have to create my own deb package on the ppa first and update gstyle too

nice if you already have the rpm (install in /usr/bin?)

i ll now try again with my damn dbus problem !!....

Thank you very much. Of course i have need to create a rpm for xcur2png, Mandriva doesn't have an official rpm on repos for it either. xcur2png installs on /usr/bin as usual.I' ll try new git version tonight. Btw, i' m working on Turkish translation, when finished i' ll send it to you. I wish i have known about python to help you; i'm a just bash guy. Thanks for great work.

I have tried latest git and it works. Howiver i have noticed a small bug when i tried to change menu icon (start-here):

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/gstyle/gui/icon.py", line 184, in apply_panel_icon
target = mainpath+'/start-here'+ext
TypeError: unsupported operand type(s) for +: 'NoneType' and 'str'

Also gstyle required root password when initializing. I think it should only require root password when user clicked to gdm configuring button. Otherwise it is confusing and we do not need root access for other actions.
