I installed this per your instructions and it simply does nothing. It doesn't throw up an error, it simply does nothing. Using Ubuntu 9.04. Any ideas?

Never mind! I made a dumb typo with my symlink. Oops. This works GREAT!!!!!! Voted good! Is there a way to activate this on logging into Gnome so that the animated desktop starts automatically with a specified file or effect? Thanks!

I'm using Gentoo.
I tried with Gentoo's package but it was way too old (since 2006) so I downloaded the latest version and compiled it myself. The only file that was produced was the xwinwrap executable which I copied then in my path.

It's looking for files in /usr/lib/xscreensaver/. I don't have such a directory.
I have /usr/share/xscreensaver/config where some xml files exist. Are they the ones which should be loaded? How am i telling it to look there?

thanks

I don't know about gentoo, I guess you just have to search for the
"newpath/lib*" and correct the path in my script with that path.

I Just can't find where I change the path in your script. The only path that exists is the /usr/share/twd/xwinwrap/ .
Where I add the path for xscreensaver? :s

Ops!
You're right!
There are 75 scripts in there with that path :P
So, create a link named /...../lib to the path you need.

Ok, I linked /usr/share/xscreensaver/config to /usr/lib/xscreensaver (the config directory contains xml files gflux.xml etc) but ofcourse it didn't work. It doesn't need the xml files, what it needs?

You need /usr/lib/xscreensaver !
In that folder you have 75 or more models of animations (without extension, so you'll have matrix, train etc.).

I found them, they were in /usr/lib64/misc/xscreensaver and I linked them in /usr/lib64/xscreensaver
Woot, it rocks mate, very beautiful, though it uses lot of CPU, I suppose it will be ideal for SMP systems.

Btw, The search tool of gnome sucks.

Btw I have an idea long time ago but dunno if it is possible. Since I have passion with sea and ships, I usually have a travelling ship as background. It would be awsome if I had an active lighthouse on, if you get the picture ;)

My script works on videos!
I've tested it myself with .3gp!
Try searching in:
/usr/share/twd/xwinwrap/custom
if you find your custom video (after selecting it with "custom" option)

I tried with 3gp. When I select one through custom video it doesn't display it but it copies it in /usr/share/twd/xwinwrap/custom .
When I select it from that path it deletes it...

xwinwrap -ni -o 0.6 -fs -s -st -sp -b -nf -o 0.6 -- mplayer -wid WID -quiet /usr/share/twd/xwinwrap/custom/*.* &

You found the script in:
/usr/share/twd/xwinwrap/
and the name is
Personalizzato

If I run sh /usr/share/twd/xwinwrap/Personalizzato the scripts works fine but there isn't an option for that in zenity's menu, but I can live with that. (there a custom option with small c but it does nothing).
Anyway, I advice to add the -loop 0 option after mplayer in Personalizzato script to make the video loop for ever.

PS: Looking for a nice lighthouse hehehe :D

Mhhh!
Sure it does nothing the custom option?
You can check in "Personalizzato" if under "custom" or "Custom" you can read that option!
And thanks for the advice ;)

Yup, it doesn't. Btw I can't understand why Personalizzato isn't shown in the menu at all?

PS: The option works with every video mplauyer can play (that means every video in existence in other words hehe).
At least it plays whatever I've tried till now.
