Description:

A really simple but powerful audio player in Python/PyGTK, using Gstreamer.

Bluemindo is a really simple but powerful audio player in Python/PyGTK, using Gstreamer.
Bluemindo is a free (as in freedom) software, released under GPLv3, only.

It can downloads albums or artists pictures and lyrics as doing desktop notifications or sending music to your Last.fm profile or on your Jabber account (via PEP).
Also, you can choose the view: lightweight, basic, normal, full or albums.

The software is available in Brazilian portuguese, Chinese, English, French, Italian, Slovak and Swedish.

Changelog:

Here's the full changelog of this new version:

* Refactorized the whole source code
* Introduced gapless playback
* Ability to start Bluemindo minimized
* Improved the VolumeManager button
* Updated Last.fm and Amazon APIs
* Explorer modules completely rewritten:
o Introduced Albums view
o Introduced Playlists (automatic and manual)
o Introduced Webradios and Shoutcast support
o Ability to change view during Bluemindo execution!
* Listening statistics
* New TrayIcon module
* Sort in playlist/views is now case-insensitive
* Plugins:
o Ability to disable or enable plugins
o Audioscrobbler can now use Last.fm, Libre.fm or any other servers
o Jabber is now hidden thanks to privacy lists
o Gajim has been removed
* Added chinese, italian, swedish and brazilian i18n
* Added a debian/ folder for packaging
* A lot of bug fixes (mainly related to unespace, unicode, playlist, sockets…)

I couldn't get this to work :(

I think it's a problem with sqlite. Exaile had a similar problem, but they managed to find a way round it. It's something to do with non-unicode characters, I think. For example, I've got Ace of Spades by Motorhead, but the second "o" in Motorhead has an umlout over it, and sqlite doesn't like this and errors-out...

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "./bluemindo.py", line 499, in <module>
main()
File "./bluemindo.py", line 496, in main
bluemindo = Bluemindo()
File "./bluemindo.py", line 373, in __init__
plugin.load_event('OnBluemindoStarted', widgets)
File "/home/fish/Desktop/bluemindo-0.2/src/modules/__init__.py", line 86, in load_event
dct_(args[0])
File "/home/fish/Desktop/bluemindo-0.2/src/modules/explorer.py", line 144, in loadplugin
self.load_songs(music_folder, scan_at_startup, view)
File "/home/fish/Desktop/bluemindo-0.2/src/modules/explorer.py", line 244, in load_songs
self.list_songs = sqlite.fetchall(cursor)
File "/home/fish/Desktop/bluemindo-0.2/src/common/sqlite.py", line 79, in fetchall
return cur.fetchall()
sqlite3.OperationalError: Could not decode to UTF-8 column 'filename' with text '/mnt/music/Motrhead - Ace Of The Spades.mp3'

Also, my library has around 3000 songs in it, and it initially takes a while for it to scan and build a database. It would be a nice to include some sort of notification that this is what is happening. At first I thought that it had crashed until I noticed the network activity on my server.

A [needs-packaging] bug is opened: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/242195
The processus for Debian is faster and an ITP has started.

But, don't be scared! You just have to extract the files in the tarball and to type "make install" as root :)

Hi,

This is not sufficient to help you. What you posted is not the full traceback message.

What's your python and python-tagpy version?
Under which distro?
What's your locale?

Do your files have some broken tags or characters unsupported by your locale settings?

If you think this is a bug, you should better submit it: http://codingteam.net/project/bluemindo/bugs/add
